2020 Census

Lets Bring Lemont to a 100% Count!

April 1 Census Day has come and gone. However, if you have not yet completed your census online or by phone, you should receive a census form in the mail to complete and return. There are three easy ways to complete your census information:
     - Go online to https://my2020census.gov/
     - Call 844-330-2020
     - Complete your form and mail it back. Call the number above if you have not received a form and do not have
       access to a computer.

Visit the 2020 Census website to see what questions will be asked on the form at. -https://2020census.gov/en/about-questions.html. It really does not take that long to complete, and your information will be protected and kept confidential by law and can only be used to produce statistics.

Who should you count?  The goal of the 2020 Census is a complete and accurate count of everyone living in the United Sates and its five territories. You should count yourself at the place where you are living and sleeping most of the time as of April 1, 2020 (Census Day). Visit the 2020 website for information on who to count, including college students - https://2020census.gov/en/who-to-count.html.

This once-a-decade event is very important to our community and we hope each household will do their part to complete their census information so that we get our share of the $675 billion in federal funding. This funding goes to support our state, county and community’s vital programs, influencing our community funding for the next ten years!

Again, your information will be protected and kept confidential by law and can only be used to produce statistics. They cannot be shared with law enforcement agencies or used against you by any government agency or court in any way. The Census Bureau is required by law to protect any personal information collected and keep it confidential.

If you do not initially submit the online questionnaire, the Census Bureau will send you a paper questionnaire after a few weeks. Be sure to complete your paper questionnaire and return it as soon as possible. Households that do not return their paper questionnaire or have not completed the online questionnaire will be visited by Census Takers beginning in May through June.

Our Special Edition 2020 Village News newsletter was mailed to all 60349 addresses in early March. This newsletter contains valuable information regarding how to count kids five and under, how to count college students, and other general information. The newsletter is available online - http://lemont.il.us/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/2022. Everyone living in the 50 states, District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories is required by law to be counted in the 2020 Census.

Getting a complete and accurate cense count is critically important. Again, we ask our Lemont residents to please complete their 2020 Census forms online or by mail and to help us spread the word to friends, family and neighbors of the importance of completing the 2020 Census. It’s a benefit to all of us for the next ten years! Spread the Word - https://2020census.gov/en/how-to-help.html.
